Tajik defence minister meets Pakistan counterpart in Islamabad to advance bilateral defence cooperation and regional stability.

The Tajik defence minister, H.E. Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim, met with Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad on November 13, 2025 to discuss ways to deepen defence ties between the two countries. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and exploring new avenues for enhanced collaboration.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif conveyed best wishes for Tajikistan’s military and civil leadership and reiterated Pakistan’s belief in the peaceful resolution of all issues, while appreciating Tajikistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. The discussion reflected Pakistan’s continued commitment to regional security and partnership with Central Asian states.

Both ministers examined existing programmes and considered practical steps to expand training, information exchange and joint initiatives within the framework of bilateral defence cooperation. Emphasis was placed on fostering constructive engagement to address shared security concerns and support stability across neighbouring regions.

H.E. Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim assured his government’s commitment and pledged to work with Pakistan to strengthen their ties, underlining mutual interest in sustained defence cooperation.
