The Tap Ball Council of Pakistan successfully concluded its largest inter university championship with 20 university teams taking part and strong institutional support across Lahore.
Muhammad Ishtiaq Kiyani the Secretary General of the Tap Ball Council of Pakistan praised the organisation and highlighted the decision to entrust the tournament to the team led by Mohammad Rihan Director General at COMSATS University Lahore who played a central role in hosting the event.
Mohammad Rashid international advisor and board member attended as chief guest and announced concrete support for the players. He said the council will do more than stage the Tap Ball Championship and that selected students will be offered employment and housing support so they can pursue the sport with stability.
Aamir Siddiqui chairman of the International Tap Ball Council speaking from the USA confirmed that the council has aligned the sport at university level and will task local organisers to arrange a women inter university championship soon. He added that outstanding players will be given selection opportunities and the chance to compete internationally.
The final saw Punjab University lift the championship trophy after a competitive match against UET which finished as runner up. The trophy was received by Zafar Iqbal Butt chairman of the Sports Department who attended with his full team and thanked the university vice chancellor the organising committee and key individuals for their support.
Event organisers and guests reiterated commitments to grow Tap Ball in Pakistan by creating pathways for talent from university level to international competition and by providing employment opportunities that will help players continue their sporting careers. The Tap Ball Council also announced that a women inter university event will be announced shortly.
