Tashkent visit by SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan advances Pakistan-Uzbek industry and technology cooperation on pharma, meters and solar water heaters.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan visited the Pharma Park and Techno Park in Tashkent to advance bilateral industrial and technological cooperation. The Tashkent visit centred on practical steps to deepen manufacturing links and regulatory collaboration between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

At the Uzbek Techno Park Mr Khan praised the production of modern household and electronic appliances, calling the work highly commendable. He said joint manufacturing of solar water heaters could offer affordable energy solutions for people in both countries and be mutually beneficial for the energy sector.

Discussions also covered joint production of modern gas and electricity meters as a way to strengthen ties in the energy and technology domains and promote shared standards in metering technology.

On the pharmaceutical front Mr Khan emphasised the need to streamline licensing and certification procedures for Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan. Improving regulatory efficiency and enhancing capacity will help Pakistan boost exports and align its pharma sector with international standards.

“By fostering collaboration in technology and industry, Pakistan and Uzbekistan can take their bilateral relations to new heights,” Mr Khan said, underscoring the wider economic potential of these cooperative initiatives.

Following the Tashkent visit both sides explored pathways to turn these discussions into concrete projects that support industry growth, export opportunities and greater energy cooperation between the two countries.
