Teachers are the driving force behind positive social change, and in the digital era they must learn new skills to help shape responsible citizens, Dr. Muhammad Afzal Babar, founder and central president of the Private Schools Network, said at the closing ceremony of a teacher training workshop held at Air University. The program brought together authors of mathematics textbooks written for the Federal Board’s revised syllabus to train teachers of grades 10 and 12, while Air University’s Mathematics Department introduced an innovative approach aimed at resolving common problems faced by matriculation and intermediate students. Certificates were presented to organizers, resource persons and participants at the event.
Dr. Afzal Babar opened the ceremony by stressing the crucial role teachers play in creating positive, lasting change in society. He urged educators to acquire digital-era skills that will enable the next generation to become better citizens and to meet contemporary learning challenges.
Organizers highlighted that this was the first time in Pakistan that authors of mathematics textbooks aligned with the Federal Board’s new curriculum directly conducted teacher training for classes 10 and 12. Air University’s Mathematics Department led the initiative, presenting new instructional approaches designed to address recurring difficulties encountered by matric and intermediate students.
Dr. Afzal Babar thanked Professor Dr. Saleem Ullah and his faculty for their expert teamwork in delivering the program. Teachers from government, semi-government and private institutions from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Wah and Taxila attended the sessions and benefited from the training environment.
Resource persons credited for contributing to the workshop’s success included Dr. Khalid Mehmood, Muhammad Anwar ul Haq, Dr. Naveed Akmal and Muhammad Dabir Mughal. The organizing team, led by Dr. Tehreem alongside Dr. Ambareen and Dr. Javeria, was also acknowledged for making the workshop meaningful and well-managed.
At the close of the ceremony Dr. Afzal Babar distributed certificates to the event’s organizers, resource persons and participants. Professor Dr. Saleem Ullah then guided attendees on a tour of the Higher Education Commission’s model classroom on the university campus — a digital-ready facility, constructed in the same format as those in Multan and Islamabad, designed to support high-quality online and face-to-face instruction.
