Team Justice meets to address Foreign medical graduates concerns on PRMP, NRE exams, internship closures and transparency; stakeholders urge prompt action.

A meeting of stakeholders from Team Justice for FMGs brought together concerned leaders and representatives to discuss pressing issues facing foreign medical graduates and students studying abroad. The session was attended by Dr. Rafey Sher as Chief Coordinator, Dr. Rafaqat Gujjar as President, and Dr. Zeeshan Noor Malik as Patron-in-Chief, who reviewed the challenges raised by families and students.

Participants heard that parents and students have raised serious concerns about several matters affecting the career progression of foreign medical graduates. One core demand was for the PRMP or for the number of NRE exams to be increased from two to at least three to prevent avoidable delays. There was also a strong call for exam transparency, specifically showing marks for future attempts so candidates can better prepare. Equally urgent was the issue of internship closures that are mainly affecting Chinese medical graduates, a development that has caused significant uncertainty for both recent graduates and those still studying abroad.

All stakeholders unanimously agreed to engage relevant authorities to seek remedies for these concerns. While acknowledging the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s efforts to uphold healthcare standards, the meeting emphasized that regulatory measures must not limit graduates’ opportunities or leave students unclear about their career pathways. The current leadership of the PMDC was recognized for its maturity and urged to consider these matters with care to balance quality and access.

The gathering also addressed a planned protest by graduates and medical students on January 15, 2026. Attendees expressed support for the demonstration while stressing it should remain peaceful and narrowly focused on securing better facilitation and clarity from authorities. Stakeholders underlined the importance of constructive dialogue alongside public advocacy to accelerate solutions.

At the close of the meeting Dr. Rafey Sher, Dr. Zeeshan Noor Malik, and Dr. Rafaqat Gujjar voiced optimism that engagement with regulators and sustained advocacy will bring positive policy adjustments. The group expressed hope that such changes will allow foreign medical graduates to integrate effectively into Pakistan’s healthcare system and contribute to public health needs.
