A thalassemia awareness seminar and blood donation camp took place at the Thalassemia Center of Al Khidmat Hospital Nishtarabad Peshawar in collaboration with Paraplegic Center Peshawar, the College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Blood Chain Pakistan and Friends of Paraplegics. The event combined awareness activities with a practical drive to collect blood for patients affected by thalassemia.
Patients from the Paraplegic Center attended the seminar along with their attendants, students and hospital staff, engaging in discussions about prevention, diagnosis and the ongoing needs of thalassemia patients in the region. The organizers emphasised community involvement and the importance of regular blood availability for effective thalassemia care.
More than 20 individuals stepped forward to donate blood on the spot, demonstrating local solidarity and the spirit of service. The joint effort by medical and social organisations not only raised awareness about thalassemia but also provided immediate support through collected blood units for those who need it most.
The collaborative initiative underscores how coordinated action between hospitals, rehabilitation centres and blood networks can strengthen healthcare responses in Peshawar. Participants described the camp as a meaningful expression of compassion and civic duty that advances the fight against thalassemia in the province.
