A delegation from the Timber Merchants Association, I-11 Islamabad, has called on the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to address significant challenges facing their businesses. The trade body’s 14-member team, led by President Haji Iqbal Khan, urged the ICCI to intervene over poor infrastructure, inadequate municipal services, and persistent regulatory obstacles that are impacting the operations of timber traders in the region.

During a meeting with ICCI leadership, the delegation detailed the hurdles restricting growth within Islamabad’s timber sector. Key concerns included dilapidated infrastructure within the I-11 timber market, lapses in essential municipal services, and bureaucratic challenges arising from dealings with the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi listened to the delegation’s concerns and assured them of the Chamber’s unwavering support. He pledged to take up the highlighted issues with the relevant authorities and called for their prompt and effective resolution. “Addressing the problems faced by sector-specific markets like Timber Market I-11 is critical to ensuring the smooth functioning of trade and industry in Islamabad,” Qureshi stated. He reiterated the ICCI’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with all facets of the business community and advocating for policies that foster a thriving commercial environment.

The Timber Merchants Association delegation also included Chairman Noor Ayaz Khan, Senior Vice President Muhammad Basharat Gujar, Vice President Saeed Khan Mehsud, General Secretary Malik Azhar, and other officials. The meeting was also attended by ICCI executive members and advisors.

Earlier, ICCI Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Chamber’s firm commitment to supporting timber merchants in resolving their legitimate business concerns.
