Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has called for a nationwide commitment to tree planting, highlighting its crucial role in tackling climate change and ensuring a healthier environment for future generations. In his message on the occasion of Tree Plantation Day, the Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized the need for people and the government to embrace tree plantation as a national duty.
Ayaz Sadiq warned that the continued deforestation in Pakistan is leading to increased rainfall, floods, and dangerous levels of air pollution. He stressed that immediate action is needed to combat climate change and to provide clean air and a safe environment for generations to come. Forests play a significant role in absorbing water and preventing flash floods, he noted, while also serving as a safeguard against floods, landslides, and drought.
According to the Speaker, trees are vital for maintaining ecological balance and preserving the natural beauty of the planet. He urged that the tree plantation movement should become a permanent national campaign. Ayaz Sadiq called on both citizens and the government to make a joint pledge to create a greener, more vibrant Pakistan.
He recommended launching large-scale plantation drives in schools and urban areas, underlining that simply planting saplings is not enough — their proper care and maintenance are equally important. The Speaker concluded by encouraging every individual to actively participate in the tree plantation movement for the sake of the country’s sustainable development.
