The Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) recently held a coordination meeting to prepare for the Tuberculosis Epidemiological Review Mission 2025. The session, conducted at the IHRA office in collaboration with the Common Management Unit (CMU) and the World Health Organization (WHO), focused on bolstering efforts to combat the spread of tuberculosis (TB) in the region.
Chaired by IHRA CEO Dr. Ahmed Raza Kazmi and attended by Head of Clinical Governance Dr. Suleman Ahmad, the meeting convened representatives from several health agencies. The participants emphasized the importance of strengthening awareness, education, and early identification of TB cases among healthcare providers. Enhanced information-sharing with relevant organizations was highlighted as essential for the timely management of the disease.
The stakeholders collectively agreed on the need to implement national standards and ensure proper licensing of healthcare establishments (HCEs) in accordance with established guidelines. These steps were deemed crucial both for effective disease surveillance and for curbing the transmission of TB within the community. The adoption of these measures is expected to facilitate better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes.
IHRA reaffirmed its dedication to improving the quality, safety, and accessibility of healthcare services in Islamabad. The organization underscored its commitment to working collaboratively with partners through evidence-based strategies and strong stakeholder engagement to address public health challenges such as tuberculosis.
