Deputy Foreign Minister Levent Gümrükçü met with representatives of Turkey’s defence industry at a meeting organized by the Presidency of Defence Industries to discuss opportunities for cooperation with European partners, including engagement under the European Union’s SAFE mechanism.
The meeting brought together senior officials and industry leaders to review avenues for closer collaboration between Turkish defence firms and European counterparts. The Presidency of Defence Industries hosted the session as part of ongoing efforts to coordinate government and industry approaches to international defence collaboration.
Participants exchanged views on practical cooperation opportunities across Europe, touching on how Turkish companies might participate in projects and frameworks promoted by the EU. Discussion included the SAFE mechanism as a potential channel for deeper engagement, with an emphasis on aligning industry capabilities with European initiatives.
Officials described the talks as a step toward strengthening ties between Turkey’s defence sector and European partners. The dialogue is intended to help identify mutual areas of interest, facilitate industrial cooperation, and support greater integration of Turkish defence suppliers in broader European programmes.
