Turkish Democracy Day Plantation Drive at Fatima Jinnah Park

Rawalpindi Women University staff and students took part in a tree plantation drive at Fatima Jinnah Park in Islamabad to mark Turkish Democracy and National Unity Day. The event, organized by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, brought together faculty and students from the Department of Zoology as part of a wider effort to promote environmental stewardship and celebrate ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.

The plantation drive was attended by several prominent figures, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Islamabad, Irfan Neziroğlu, and Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Law and Justice, Naeem Akbar Raja. The occasion also saw the participation of Pakistani government officials, representatives from civil society, members of Turkish institutions based in Islamabad, and Turkish citizens.

During the activity, participants collaborated to plant a total of 253 saplings, underlining their commitment to environmental conservation. The event highlighted the cooperation between the two countries and aimed to foster a sense of unity and shared responsibility toward protecting the environment.
