Turkish Republic Day was marked at SZABIST University in Karachi in a vibrant ceremony that celebrated the deep cultural and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye. The event, held in collaboration with Türkiye Alumni Pakistan (TULIP) and Pak-Turk Maarif, drew a wide attendance of students, faculty and invited guests from both communities.
The programme opened with traditional performances by students of SZABIST and Pak-Turk Maarif International School, whose folk dances, anthem renditions and staged presentations earned warm applause from the audience. The cultural segment underscored the shared heritage and people-to-people connections that the Turkish Republic Day observance sought to highlight.
Ergül Kadak, Consul General of Türkiye in Karachi, attended as the chief guest and addressed the gathering, reflecting on the historical ties and ongoing cooperation between the two countries. Subsequent addresses were delivered by university and community leaders, including Madam Shahnaz Wazir Ali, President of SZABIST, Dr. Altaf Mukati, Vice President Academics, Saif ul Islam, President of TULIP, and S. AbdulBasit, TULIP Coordinator. Each speaker highlighted the importance of academic collaboration and alumni engagement in strengthening Pakistan-Türkiye bonds.
As a gesture of appreciation, the university presented momento shields to the honoured guests. The exchange of tokens and cordial interactions reinforced the spirit of friendship that defined the day’s gatherings.
