Türkiye Embassy Marks Allama Iqbal Anniversary

Allama Iqbal commemorated as Türkiye Embassy in Islamabad hosts event and Common Heroes exhibition, highlighting cultural ties and shared heritage.

The Embassy of Türkiye in Islamabad hosted a commemorative event titled “Muhammad Iqbal: The Great Poet of the East” to mark the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal, drawing diplomats, cultural figures and scholars to reflect on his legacy.

Before the meeting, the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre inaugurated a photo exhibition called “Common Heroes.” The exhibition was opened by H.E. Dr. Irfan Neziroğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan; Mr. Khursid Ahmad Nadeem, Chairman of the Rahmatul-lil-Alamin Authority; Mr. Zulfiqar Cheema, Chairman of the Iqbal Council; and Prof. Dr. Halil Toker, Türkiye Coordinator of Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centres in Pakistan.

At the Embassy meeting, Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroğlu highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan and underlined the continuing relevance of Allama Iqbal as a thinker and poet whose ideas inspire the Muslim world.

Mr. Khursid Ahmad Nadeem emphasized Allama Iqbal’s strong affection for Türkiye and his intellectual engagement with the concept of ijtihad, as well as Iqbal’s reflections on the emergence of the Republic of Türkiye.

Mr. Zulfiqar Cheema paid tribute to Iqbal’s efforts for the spiritual revival of the Muslim Ummah, noting how the poet’s message remains a source of moral and intellectual guidance for Pakistan and the wider region.

The event and exhibition together underscored enduring cultural and intellectual ties between Türkiye and Pakistan, reaffirming shared history, values and a vision for continued exchange and cooperation grounded in the legacy of Allama Iqbal.
