**UIIT’s Open House & Job Fair Connects Graduates with Industry Opportunities at Arid University**
The University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) successfully held its annual Open House & Job Fair, creating an important platform for collaboration between academia and industry. The event brought together university leadership, faculty, industry representatives, and graduating students, providing valuable networking, recruitment, and learning opportunities for all involved.
The Open House was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor of PMAS-AAUR. During the opening ceremony, he toured the student project exhibition and engaged with participants, underscoring the university’s commitment to facilitating innovation and practical industry linkages. Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman emphasized the critical role of academia-industry collaboration in his address, highlighting its significance for fostering new technologies and strengthening the country’s economic position. He stated that robust partnerships not only benefit students and academic institutions but also have far-reaching impacts on national technological advancement.
This year’s fair attracted more than 60 companies from the technology sector and related industries. Employers assessed student projects, hosted on-the-spot interviews, and extended employment and internship opportunities to deserving candidates. As a direct result of the event, 45 graduates secured job offers while over 80 students were placed in internships, reflecting the technical prowess and industry readiness of UIIT’s cohort. The exhibition showcased innovative projects from students in Computer Science and Software Engineering, drawing praise from company representatives for their originality and practical relevance.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where the Vice Chancellor honored the top three students in each academic domain, recognizing their outstanding achievements. Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman took the opportunity to commend Prof. Dr. Yaser Hafeez, Director of UIIT, and his organizing team, praising their dedication to forging strong academic and industry ties. In response, Prof. Dr. Yaser Hafeez acknowledged the Vice Chancellor’s ongoing guidance and reaffirmed UIIT’s mission to advance innovation and enhance the employability of its graduates.
