The three-day Interfaculty Football Championship 2025–26 at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi concluded with spirited competition and strong campus support. Ten teams from various faculties and institutes competed across the event, which opened under the supervision of the Directorate of Sports and saw an enthusiastic turnout from students and staff.
After several closely contested matches, the final pitted the University Institute of Management Sciences against the University Institute of Information Technology. The match remained goalless in regular time and was ultimately decided by penalties, where UIMS prevailed 4–2 on penalty kicks, displaying composure and teamwork under pressure.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman attended the final as chief guest and commended the winners while appreciating the Directorate of Sports for organising a smooth tournament. He reiterated the university’s focus on balancing academics with physical wellbeing, noting that sporting activities complement classroom learning by building discipline, leadership and resilience among students.
Director Sports Mr. Rana Zahid Qamar inaugurated the championship and oversaw the proceedings alongside university officials. The event showcased the depth of talent across PMAS-AAUR and highlighted the role of regular competitive fixtures in promoting fitness and teamwork on campus.
At the closing ceremony the Vice Chancellor presented trophies, medals and certificates to the champions and runners-up, praising both teams for their performances. The successful staging of the Interfaculty Football tournament underlines the university’s commitment to encouraging wider student participation in co-curricular activities.
