In Islamabad on 17 October 2025, UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott, accompanied by senior government adviser Matt Clancy, held talks with Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiani at the Ministry of Finance. The meeting centred on enhancing UK Pakistan ties and cooperation on issues of mutual interest, including macroeconomic development and infrastructure investment.
Minister Bilal Azhar Kiani outlined the government’s commitment to translating economic stability into sustained growth under the Prime Minister’s vision. He said work is progressing rapidly to modernise Pakistan Railways and provide improved services and facilities, a priority that links closely with broader economic objectives.
Jane Marriott welcomed the expanding partnership between the two countries and emphasised the importance of continued collaboration to support Pakistan’s development goals. Discussions highlighted opportunities for joint efforts to bolster macroeconomic resilience and to advance modernisation projects for Pakistan Railways.
