In Lahore, UN Women with support from the KOICA Pakistan Office hosted a Digital Startup Roundtable called Women Leading Innovation, bringing together policymakers, tech leaders, private sector representatives and young women entrepreneurs to drive a shared agenda for Pakistan’s digital economy.
Participants discussed gender-responsive digital governance, the expansion of affordable internet access and practical growth pathways for women-led startups, emphasizing concrete steps to ensure women in tech can access markets, funding and mentorship.
As part of the Digitalization for Women’s Economic Empowerment (d4wee) project, the roundtable focused on empowering women aged 18–35 with digital skills, resources and entrepreneurial opportunities so they can play a central role in shaping Pakistan’s digital future.
Speakers highlighted the need to translate policy into practice through collaboration between government, industry and development partners, and underlined how targeted support for women in tech can accelerate innovation and build a more inclusive digital economy across Punjab and beyond.
