UN Women and KPITB sign MoU in Peshawar to boost digital inclusion and expand women's economic opportunities under the KOICA-funded D4WEE project.

UN Women and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Peshawar to advance women’s economic empowerment through digital inclusion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The agreement is part of the KOICA-funded Digitalization for Women’s Economic Empowerment (D4WEE) project and aims to open new pathways for women into the digital economy.

The partnership will focus on creating practical opportunities for women to participate and thrive in technology-driven markets, supporting skills development, access to digital platforms and connections to industry networks. By prioritizing digital inclusion, the initiative seeks to reduce barriers that have limited women’s economic participation across the province.

KPITB’s role in the collaboration is expected to leverage provincial tech infrastructure and programmes to reach women in urban and semi-urban communities, while UN Women will bring its expertise in gender-responsive programming. Together the organisations plan to align efforts under the D4WEE project to ensure that digital inclusion translates into sustainable economic gains for women.

Stakeholders in Peshawar and beyond view the MoU as a step toward building a more inclusive digital economy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where targeted support through the D4WEE project can expand opportunities for entrepreneurship, employment and participation in technology sectors for women.
