With support from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan, UNFPA Pakistan partnered with the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics for the second Data Festival under the theme “Unlocking Tomorrow with AI.” The two-day event brought data specialists and the public together to examine how artificial intelligence can inform fairer development planning in Pakistan.
An interactive dialogue titled “Rethinking NFC for Equity and Balanced Development – Population, Resources, and Representation” encouraged participants to consider how population data, resource allocation and representation intersect when shaping policy. Attendees discussed ways that evidence and new analytical tools can promote more balanced outcomes across regions and communities.
UNFPA’s interactive stall attracted young students, development professionals and visitors who explored practical demonstrations of how data influences decision-making. The stall offered hands-on engagement showing why reliable data and thoughtful analysis are essential for advancing equity and inclusive progress.
The Data Festival highlighted the role of international cooperation, government statistics and civil society in using AI and data responsibly for Pakistan’s development. Organisers said continued dialogue and capacity building are key to turning insights from the festival into policies that benefit all citizens.
