In a significant step toward stronger institutional collaboration, Dr. Luay Shabaneh, UNFPA Representative in Pakistan, along with his delegation, met with Mr. Khalid Pervaiz, Director General of Population Welfare Punjab, at the Directorate General Population Welfare under the Health and Population Department, Punjab. The meeting emphasized joint efforts toward enhancing reproductive health services, capacity-building programs, and achieving FP2030 targets.
During the discussion, participants highlighted the importance of collaboration between UNFPA and the Population Welfare Department, particularly within the post-integration framework of Punjab’s Health and Population sectors. Dr. Shabaneh reiterated UNFPA’s firm commitment to providing support for upgrading and enhancing capacity at the School of Nursing and Midwifery—an initiative central to improving reproductive health outcomes in the province.
Furthermore, UNFPA representatives affirmed their ongoing dedication to achieving Family Planning 2030 (FP2030) goals, underscoring the organization’s broader mission of advancing reproductive health services and improving maternal and child health indicators across Punjab.
Mr. Khalid Pervaiz expressed appreciation for UNFPA’s vital support and looked forward to continued cooperation in achieving mutually beneficial strategic objectives.
