This week in Lahore UNICEF joined the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC Pakistan) and the National Commission on the Status of Women, Islamabad to bring together 44 journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab for a focused media training on child rights and gender equality.
Participants engaged with practical guidance on ethical reporting, approaches to amplifying children’s voices and techniques to ensure stories reflect dignity and protection. The media training highlighted how careful reporting can reduce harm, challenge harmful stereotypes and promote inclusive coverage across provinces.
Journalists shared rich discussions, questions and local insights that reflected the realities of communities in KP and Punjab. Organisers praised the commitment shown by attendees to pursue responsible, balanced storytelling that centres the rights and safety of children, while addressing gender equality in reporting.
The event reinforced the vital role of Pakistan’s media in shaping public narratives that protect and empower children. Organisers look forward to seeing the informed, sensitive stories that emerge from this media training and to continued collaboration with journalists across the country.
