UNICEF met PSPA to advance child nutrition through the Aghosh Program and joint social and behavioral change advocacy in Punjab.

A UNICEF delegation led by Anteneh Girma Minas, Chief of Child Nutrition and Development at the United Nations Children’s Fund, visited the Punjab Social Protection Authority office and held talks with CEO Ali Shehzad. The meeting focused on ways to strengthen child nutrition interventions across Punjab and to identify areas where UNICEF and PSPA can coordinate more closely.

Participants discussed collaboration to improve community outreach, capacity building and messaging aimed at changing behaviours that affect child nutrition. Emphasis was placed on aligning technical support and advocacy to reach vulnerable households and to ensure that child nutrition remains a central priority in provincial social protection efforts.

The delegation and PSPA also explored advancing a social and behavioral change advocacy campaign under the Aghosh Program, aiming to develop coordinated communications and engagement strategies. Both sides highlighted the need for consistent messaging and joint outreach to support caregivers and local service providers.

Officials said the talks were an initial step toward deeper cooperation, with both UNICEF and PSPA committed to continuing dialogue and technical coordination to translate discussions into tangible actions for child nutrition in Punjab.
