The Ministry of Human Rights, working with the Department of Social Work at the University of Karachi, organized a seminar on 12-02-2026 to help students distinguish between rightful and erroneous use of social media. Speakers underlined the need for young users to develop a clear understanding of responsible social media behaviour and digital citizenship.
Speakers stressed that the use of social media demands a strong sense of responsibility, ethical consideration and personal wisdom. They urged students to think critically before sharing content and to prioritise respectful online conduct as part of responsible social media practices.
Panelists emphasised that tackling the problem of misuse requires coordinated action across society, with educational institutions playing a central role. The seminar recommended regular awareness sessions, curriculum support and campus initiatives to guide and protect youth from harms associated with online platforms.
The Ministry and the Department of Social Work highlighted that promoting responsible social media is essential for safeguarding young Pakistanis and strengthening civic values in the digital age. Continued collaboration between government bodies and universities was presented as key to building safer online spaces for students.
