Usman Wazeer will defend his WBC OPBF Silver title on home soil in Lahore in the last week of November 2025, aiming to extend his perfect professional record to 18-0 and galvanise Pakistan’s growing boxing profile.
The 24-year-old captured the WBC OPBF Silver belt earlier this year in Thailand when he stopped Indonesia’s Stevie Ferdinandus in the tenth round. “It was a 10-round fight and the first three rounds were tough because of his experience, over 50 fights. But I trusted my stamina and game plan. I gained control from the fourth round onwards and knocked him out at 2 minutes and 22 seconds in the tenth,” Wazeer recalled, a victory that was broadcast live on DAZN and seen in 168 countries.
Carrying a 17-0 record into this home defence, Wazeer says he is focused on making history in Pakistan. “I’m confident about defending my title. I want to make history on Pakistani soil and raise the national flag with pride,” he said, adding that his coach and team are working to polish his game as he chases 18-0.
A major pillar behind his recent run has been support from ACTIVIT, a sports and health initiative led by Rd. Rizwan Aftab Ahmed, who also serves as Director of National Hospital DHA Lahore. “ACTIVIT has fully sponsored my last four international fights, which I won. Their backing, from financial aid to medical support for me and my family, has been a major morale booster,” Wazeer said, praising the program for creating a family-like environment for athletes.
Wazeer’s rise is rooted in humble beginnings. Born in Astore, Gilgit-Baltistan, he moved to Islamabad after initial football trials and found his calling in boxing in 2015. He became Islamabad champion in his debut amateur year and won gold at the HEC All-Pakistan Championship in 2017. His performance at the 2018 Punjab Games earned him an invitation to train at the Amir Khan Boxing Academy in Islamabad.
Turning professional in Dubai in 2019, Wazeer claimed the WBC Middle East title by 2021 and in 2022 became the first Pakistani to win the WBO World Youth title while also securing the WBA Asia Welterweight crown. His professional victories include opponents from India, Indonesia, Thailand, Tanzania and Malaysia, reflecting a steady climb through regional and international ranks.
This upcoming defence in Lahore represents more than a title fight for Wazeer: it is an opportunity to showcase Pakistani boxing at home and inspire a new generation. With ACTIVIT’s backing and a focused camp, Usman Wazeer aims to defend his WBC OPBF Silver belt and deliver a memorable night for local fans.
