Visa Intelligent Authorization enables acquirers to modernize payment processing with a single API, 99.999% uptime and 96.3% approval rates.

Karachi, 25 March, 2026 — Visa today announced the launch of Visa Intelligent Authorization on the Visa Acceptance Platform to help acquirers modernize payment processing through a single API connection and reduce expensive infrastructure maintenance.

Authorization sits at the heart of digital payments, with acquirers sending real-time requests through card networks to issuing banks for approval in seconds. Many legacy authorization systems were not built for the uptime, intelligence, and regulatory flexibility demanded by modern commerce, which can limit approval rates, raise operating costs, complicate compliance, and slow expansion into new payment experiences and markets.

Visa Intelligent Authorization is designed to process transactions across major global and local card networks via a single integration, delivering industry-leading reliability with 99.999% uptime and an average global approval rate of 96.3%. The capability can act as an acquirer’s primary authorization processor or run alongside existing infrastructure to strengthen resilience, support business continuity and recovery, and expand operational capabilities.

The solution aims to help acquirers approve more legitimate transactions, manage risk more effectively, and operate with greater efficiency by providing real-time insights and payment updates that reduce friction across the transaction lifecycle and support faster settlement processes. By centralizing modern authorization features in a single API, Visa Intelligent Authorization can shorten time to market for new merchant services and payment experiences.

Walter Lironi, Head of Value-Added Services for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Visa, said “Commerce is evolving rapidly, and acquirers need authorization infrastructure that can keep up. Yet many transactions still run on legacy systems built for a different era. Visa Intelligent Authorization modernizes payment processing through a single API across major global and local card networks, enabling greater reliability today and readiness for what comes next.”

For Pakistan’s banks, payment processors, and fintech firms, Visa Intelligent Authorization offers a path to reduce infrastructure burden while improving approvals and resilience as the local market adopts new digital payment experiences. The capability is available to eligible acquirers as part of the Visa Acceptance Platform. To learn more, visit Visa.com.
