A mental health awareness session at Indus Excellence Academy in Main Qureshi Goth, Sukkur drew a large gathering of students, youth and community members focused on promoting mental well-being. Organized with the support of VSO Pakistan, the event aimed to strengthen understanding of mental health awareness and reduce stigma within the local community.
Professor Anwar Qureshi delivered a detailed keynote on mental stress, anxiety and depression, underscoring the importance of maintaining psychological balance in daily life. He emphasized that mental health awareness is as vital as physical health and urged open discussion to better support those facing mental health challenges.
The session was moderated by VSO volunteer Tufail Ahmed Mangrio, who outlined the program objectives and guided an engaged question and answer segment that encouraged active participation from attendees. Participants raised practical concerns and sought advice on coping strategies, reflecting strong community interest in accessible mental health information.
Naveed Rasheed, Syed Ahmed Shah and Ms. Rehana Parveen formed the supporting team whose coordination ensured smooth conduct of the event. Many attendees described the initiative as highly beneficial for nurturing positive thinking, self-confidence and mental peace among young people in Sukkur.
Organizers expressed gratitude to VSO Pakistan for its support and voiced hope that similar mental health awareness programs will continue across schools and community centres to strengthen youth wellbeing and community resilience.
