Minister Wajiha Qamar congratulates UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany and pledges closer cooperation on education, heritage conservation and scientific collaboration.

In Samarkand on October 30, 2025, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar met with Dr Khaled El-Enany, the newly elected UNESCO Director-General, at his office during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference.

Ms Qamar conveyed Pakistan’s warm congratulations to the UNESCO Director-General and offered the country’s best wishes for his tenure, expressing confidence that his leadership will reinforce UNESCO’s work in education, science, culture and communication.

During the discussion she reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to UNESCO’s objectives and highlighted Islamabad’s active role in promoting inclusive and equitable education, skills development, cultural preservation and scientific collaboration. Ms Qamar emphasised Pakistan’s resolve to work closely with UNESCO to advance shared priorities under the Sustainable Development Agenda.

Dr Khaled El-Enany welcomed Pakistan’s continued engagement and constructive contributions to UNESCO programmes and policy initiatives, and committed to expanding cooperation with Pakistan in education, heritage conservation and innovation. The meeting underscored Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening its partnership with UNESCO and supporting global efforts toward inclusive learning, cultural exchange and sustainable progress.
