Waris Khan police arrested a suspect accused of committing a robbery against a young woman in the Chittian Hittian area of Rawalpindi after prompt action by station teams. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transferred to the local police station as legal proceedings were initiated.
The arrest, carried out by Waris Khan police, came in response to immediate reports from the area and reflects a rapid operational response. Authorities say evidence collection and initial inquiries are underway while further legal steps are being pursued in accordance with the law.
Residents and local activists gathered on Zafarul Haq Road to voice their support for the police. Members of the Citizen Action Committee led chants in favour of the officers, commending the quick response that, they said, helped restore public confidence in local security arrangements. Prominent local figures present included Haji Naseer Bhatti, Chairman Councillor Ittehad, Nasir Iqbal Awan, Irfan Bhatti, Irfan Razaq Mughal and other community members. Citizens expressed relief that the suspect was apprehended and urged authorities to ensure a strict sentence if guilt is proven, saying the swift action has helped improve the sense of safety in the neighbourhood.
