Warwickshire County Cricket Club and Lahore Qalandars have announced a major long-term partnership aimed at developing and promoting cricket across both the UK and Pakistan. The strategic alliance will focus on nurturing talent, supporting grassroots initiatives, and creating new commercial opportunities, with activities set to begin later this year.
Under the new venture, the two clubs will collaborate on a host of programs to boost cricket at all levels. These include the development of talent and performance systems, exchange visits for players and coaches, the establishment of joint academies, and the creation of a scouting network. The partnership will also support grassroots cricket, launch community projects, and pursue commercial growth, helping both clubs build a stronger international presence.
The historic collaboration follows Warwickshire’s recent acquisition of Birmingham Phoenix in partnership with Knighthead LLP, signaling the club’s ambition to expand its global influence. Finance Director of Warwickshire CCC, Abraham Khan, emphasized the wide-reaching nature of the pact, stating: “Collaborating with Lahore Qalandars is not only about elite cricket but also about creating opportunities that will shape the future of the game. Together, we will open pathways for young talent, expand grassroots cricket, launch community projects, and pool resources to strengthen cricket at every level. This is a historic new chapter for both clubs.”
Sameen Rana, Owner and Chief Operating Officer of Lahore Qalandars, highlighted the shared vision between the clubs: “Our philosophy has always been to think beyond boundaries, and this partnership reflects that vision. By working with Warwickshire, we aim to nurture talent, inspire communities in Lahore and Birmingham, and build a sustainable model that strengthens both clubs on and off the field while leaving a lasting legacy for the sport.”
The agreement was made possible by the British Pakistan Initiative following a successful academy tour to Lahore, where initial cultural and sporting exchanges set the stage for a broader collaboration. Both clubs believe this innovative alliance will transform the cricketing landscape across two continents for years to come.
