UN Women, in collaboration with the European Union in Pakistan and the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS), has launched a key initiative to strengthen women’s leadership in governance. Over two days, newly elected women and minority Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended an intensive orientation program aimed at enhancing their parliamentary skills and capacity for inclusive legislation.
More than 20 participants benefitted from training designed to equip them with essential tools to champion governance that represents the voices of all citizens, including marginalized communities. The sessions focused on developing leadership competencies, promoting effective legislative practices, and encouraging the creation of laws that reflect a broad spectrum of societal needs.
The initiative reflects a broader commitment to fostering equality and gender responsiveness within Pakistan’s political framework. By empowering women and minority representatives, organizers hope to build a more inclusive and representative democracy that better serves the nation’s diverse population.
