The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and advancing gender-sensitive policies in a recent council meeting led by Secretary Dr. Shahida Rehmani. The session began with a prayer for those impacted by recent floods, underscoring the Caucus’s concern for individuals affected by natural disasters.
A major topic of discussion centered on developing a comprehensive plan to address climate change, with particular attention on measures that protect women from the harmful effects of flooding. Members emphasized the importance of involving women more actively in environmental planning, aiming for more effective and inclusive climate resilience strategies.
During the meeting, the Caucus announced a leadership change within its Subcommittee on Legal Reforms and Legislative Scrutiny. Ms. Sofia Saeed Shah was appointed as the new Chairperson, a move expected to bring renewed direction to the oversight of legislative policies and reforms.
