Event highlights eggs’ role in nutrition and food security; poultry industry leaders and 400 students participate
Rawalpindi: The World Egg Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman. The event drew notable figures from Pakistan’s poultry industry and over 400 students from various colleges and departments of the university.
The celebrations featured a range of activities, including competitions, an awareness walk, and a seminar, jointly organized by the Institute of Animal Sciences, PMAS-AAUR, SB Eggs, and WPSA Pakistan.
Mian Muhammad Aslam, CEO of Arslan Poultry, attended as the Chief Guest and commended the university’s efforts to raise public awareness about the nutritional value of eggs. He emphasized that eggs are vital for the health and nourishment of children, women, and youth, adding that “a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.”
The Guest of Honour, Mian Sohaib Javaid, President of WPSA Pakistan and CEO of Jadeed Group, highlighted the importance of eggs in ensuring food and nutritional security. He described eggs as one of the most affordable and balanced sources of protein and vitamins, essential for all age groups.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Nasir Mukhtar thanked the participants, faculty members, and industry representatives for their active involvement. He praised the event’s organization, saying it showcased “teamwork and dedication” by the university community and its industry partners.
