On 11 December 2025 the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad welcomed 16 aspiring students and academics participating in the 6th International Young Diplomat School 2025, organised by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies from 9 to 11 December 2025. The event brought together young diplomats and scholars for sessions on diplomacy and international affairs.
H.E. Mr. Rongvudhi Virabutr, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, interacted with the participants on the nature of diplomacy and international affairs and outlined the desirable qualities of a diplomat. The Ambassador emphasised practical skills, cross-cultural understanding and ethical conduct as foundations for a career in diplomacy, offering guidance tailored to those beginning diplomatic studies.
The Ambassador also reviewed the Embassy’s activities throughout the year, providing insight into bilateral initiatives and outreach programmes that connect Thailand and Pakistan. Participants were able to relate these real-world examples to lessons on diplomatic engagement and public diplomacy.
Thai diplomacy in Pakistan was discussed through several cultural lenses, with special attention to the promotion of Thailand’s soft power via food, art and culture, and tourism. The session highlighted how cultural exchange and people-to-people ties complement formal diplomatic channels and create opportunities for collaboration.
The visit concluded with the Ambassador presenting certificates to the participants and giving them a short tour of the chancery, a gesture that underlined the Embassy’s support for the next generation of Young Diplomats and encouraged continued interest in international affairs and bilateral relations.
