Zakat Foundation Pakistan and National Press Club Islamabad promote interfaith harmony by honoring Christian journalists and supporting their families.

The Zakat Foundation of America Pakistan joined the National Press Club Islamabad in a dignified program to promote interfaith harmony and national unity, bringing together journalists and their families for an evening of recognition and solidarity. Over 120 members of the National Press Club attended the event, creating an inclusive atmosphere with children and spouses present alongside media professionals.

Speakers acknowledged the significant contributions of the Christian journalist community to Pakistan’s media landscape and highlighted their role in fostering responsible journalism and social cohesion. The presence of senior figures reinforced the event’s message of dialogue and inclusion: Mr. Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting; Dr. Fazal ur Rehman, Country Representative Zakat Foundation of America; Ms. Shazia Rizwan, Member Punjab Assembly and Coordinator to the Chief Minister of Punjab; Jawad Tariq, DIG Operations; Naveed Anwar, President Chicago Chamber of Commerce; Afzal Butt, President PFUJ; and Sardar Tahir Mahmood, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce.

Zakat Foundation Pakistan hosted an honorary dinner and distributed gifts and cash support to journalists, their families, and children as a gesture of appreciation and practical solidarity. The gesture was warmly received by attendees, and Afzal Butt publicly commended the foundation for its efforts to promote interfaith understanding and social welfare among media communities.

Organisers said the event reaffirmed the belief that diversity is a strength for Pakistan and that bringing together families, communities, and institutions through respect and understanding is essential for a peaceful and progressive society. The gathering at the National Press Club Islamabad underlined the continuing importance of building bridges across faiths and professional communities to strengthen national unity.
