The Pakistan Peoples Party marked the 98th birth anniversary of Zulfiqar Bhutto at the office of Nasera Shaheen Kiyani Advocate in Qasimabad, where party leaders, workers and guests gathered for a cake cutting and remembrance event.

Amjad Butt, Pakistan Peoples Party representative in Germany, and former secretary information and deputy Nazim Nasser Mir spoke about Bhutto’s impact on the political consciousness of disadvantaged classes and his short but consequential tenure that introduced historic reforms to strengthen Pakistan. Guest of honour Mian Khurram Rasool, media adviser to the Chairman Senate, said Bhutto instilled the idea that power is from the people and highlighted Bhutto’s role in securing the consensus 1973 constitution, which established the federal structure, parliamentary system and guarantees for fundamental rights.

Nasera Shaheen Kiyani Advocate said Bhutto’s thoughts and principles gave ordinary Pakistanis the political awareness to defend their rights against oppression. She added that the Pakistan Peoples Party under Bilawal Bhutto Zardari continues to pursue those basic rights for the public.

Among those present were Punjab Council member Banaras Chaudhry, former Nazim contractor Jamil Akhtar Qureshi, former chairman Malik Asif Akbar, Nadeem Awan, Chaudhry Tahir Ikram, Mian Altaf Butt, Rafiqat Ali Qadri, Khushhal Khan, vice president Saeeda Bibi and Kausar Altaf Satti. The cake was cut jointly by Mian Khurram Rasool, Amjad Butt, Nasser Mir and Nasera Shaheen Kiyani alongside party workers, and the host arranged refreshments for attendees.

After the anniversary event, leaders and women delegates offered condolences to vice president Saeeda Bibi on the passing of her uncle and collectively recited Fatiha in his memory.
