SHIFA Welfare Association successfully conducted a four-day Youth Leadership Workshop on Climate Action in District Jacobabad, Sindh, under the Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative (PYLI). The event brought together university students and community youth for intensive sessions on leadership and climate response.
The PYLI project is a three-year initiative led by the British Council Pakistan in partnership with Education Above All Foundation’s Reach Out to All (ROTA) Programme. It is implemented in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the Higher Education Commission, WaterAid Pakistan, UNDP Pakistan, local civil society organisations and public universities to strengthen youth capacity across the country.
Sessions emphasised Global Citizenship Education and practical climate action, giving participants tools to plan and lead local initiatives. The Youth Leadership training combined awareness, skills development and community engagement to help young people translate learning into on-the-ground projects.
As part of a national effort to prepare future leaders, the PYLI project aims to train 90,000 youth from universities and communities across Pakistan. SHIFA’s workshop in Jacobabad adds momentum in Sindh, reinforcing the role of youth leadership in building climate resilience and civic participation at the local level.
