Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, outgoing Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today, underscoring deepening Pakistan Ethiopia ties at the conclusion of his diplomatic tenure.
The Prime Minister congratulated the ambassador on a successful term and thanked him for his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations. He highlighted concrete achievements during the ambassador’s posting, including the conclusion of a Bilateral Trade Agreement and the resumption of direct flights between Karachi and Addis Ababa.
Noting Ethiopia’s important role across Africa, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Ethiopia in trade, investment, agriculture and technical capacity building, and expressed a desire to enhance high-level interaction between the two governments.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support and friendship extended by the people and Government of Pakistan during his tenure. He thanked the Prime Minister for receiving him for the farewell call and conveyed appreciation for strengthened ties.
Both sides underlined the need to consolidate recent milestones so that businesses, agricultural stakeholders and technical institutes in both countries can capitalise on improved connectivity and the renewed framework of Pakistan Ethiopia cooperation.
