France backs Pakistan polio campaign as officials and WHO join the Islamabad launch, aiming to accelerate eradication with AFD support.

The launch of the national polio campaign at the Dispensary, MCI G-9 Markaz saw the Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Eradication, Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq, together with the Ambassador of France to Pakistan, Mr. Nicolas Galey, administer polio drops to children as part of intensified vaccination efforts.

Ambassador Galey spent time with frontline workers during the event, commending their dedication and reaffirming France’s continued support for Pakistan’s Polio Eradication Programme. The engagement highlighted international partnership at the heart of the polio campaign in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister’s Focal Person praised France’s financial assistance through the Agence Française de Développement and said the Ambassador’s visit greatly motivated polio teams on the ground. She expressed confidence that, Insha’Allah, Pakistan will soon achieve a polio-free status and urged sustained efforts across the country.

Officials from the World Health Organization, including Dr. Luo Dapeng, WHO Country Representative, and Dr. Soghaier, WHO Team Lead in Pakistan, accompanied the launch alongside senior local officials, including the Director General of Health Services, CDA/MCI. The joint presence underlined a coordinated federal and international approach to advance the polio campaign in Pakistan.
