From October 14 to 17, 2025, the first meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization under the Kyrgyz presidency took place in Bishkek. The four-day session focused on aligning administrative and policy priorities for the Kyrgyz Republic’s 2025–2026 presidency.
The meeting brought together national coordinators from ten Member States alongside representatives of the SCO Secretariat and the Executive Committee of the Regional Counter-Terrorist Organization. Participants exchanged perspectives on strengthening regional coordination and on mechanisms to enhance security cooperation.
Delegates at the SCO meeting considered in detail the Kyrgyz presidency plan for 2025–2026 and engaged in a rich exchange of views on improving the Organization’s activities. Attention centered on preparations for the upcoming Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) meeting scheduled in Moscow in November, with coordinators working to streamline agendas and logistical arrangements.
Deliberations emphasized activating practical cooperation across political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, while also addressing counter-terrorism coordination through the Regional Counter-Terrorist Organization’s Executive Committee. The outcomes aim to translate coordination into actionable initiatives among Member States.
For Pakistani readers, the SCO meeting’s discussions are directly relevant as Member States prepare for the Moscow session and for a renewed focus on trade and security collaboration. Observers will watch how the Kyrgyz presidency plan shapes near-term regional initiatives and cooperative projects among SCO partners.
