The 9th Sheheryar Malik Memorial Pakistan Open Tennis Championship 2025 concluded at the Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park in Lahore with Muzamil Murtaza emerging victorious in the men’s singles final. Muzamil overcame Muhammad Shoaib Khan in a closely contested match, winning 7-5, 7-5 to lift the prestigious title.
In the seniors 45+ doubles final the duo of Talha Waheed of Gas & Oil Pakistan and Ashar Ali Khan produced a resilient performance to beat Hassan Said and Hadi Hussain 6-2, 5-7, 10-8 and claim the trophy. The match displayed competitive spirit and tight shot-making in decisive moments.
The seniors 65+ doubles crown went to Waqar Nisar and Inam-ul-Haq of the National Police Academy Islamabad, who defeated Brig (R) Ghazanfar and Maj Saeed 7-6, 6-0 to secure their title in the veteran draw.
Future prospects were on show as Shayan Afridi won the boys U-12 final against Muhammad Aayan 4-2, 4-2, while Aiman Rehan took the girls U-12 title after Khadija Khalil retired at 4-1, 3-0. In the U-10 final Daniyal Abdullah defeated Emaan Shahbaz 6-1 to round off the junior events.
MPA Bilal Yaseen attended the concluding ceremony as chief guest and presented prizes to the winners. PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Manzoor Butt and a number of senior tennis officials, players, family members and local tennis supporters were also present to celebrate the champions.
PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Malik thanked MPA Bilal Yaseen for his presence and acknowledged Aisam-ul-Haq for attending the finals. Malik also expressed gratitude to Punjab Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar for announcing a grant of Rs 500,000 for the event and recognised all sponsors for their support, congratulating the champions and encouraging runners-up to continue their efforts ahead of future tournaments.
