Ghulam Abbas serves as a senior producer at Radio Pakistan Islamabad and has overseen the station’s drama section for the past ten years. In that time he has produced a wide range of dramatic work that reflects local stories and talent from the capital region.
Ghulam Abbas credits a dedicated team of artists from Rawalpindi and Islamabad for the sustained output, saying the ensemble has been an integral part of every production. The drama section under his guidance has included many projects, both experimental and mainstream, aimed at engaging local audiences.
Alongside drama production, Ghulam Abbas hosts a programme called Students Magazine, which focuses on informing young listeners about government-provided facilities and opportunities. He describes the show as an attempt to bridge information gaps for students and says the true measure of success will come from listener feedback.
With roughly three decades in radio, Ghulam Abbas began his career at Rawalpindi Radio before spending six and a half years in the United Kingdom. After returning to Pakistan he joined Radio Pakistan Islamabad, where he continues to work and contribute to the local arts and youth outreach through broadcast media.
