Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi has begun a dedicated free mortuary transfer service in Punjab following directions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to improve public support during bereavement.

The service, introduced in an initial phase across three districts including Rawalpindi, will provide free transport of deceased persons from government hospitals to their homes, offering timely and dignified assistance to grieving families. Vehicles for the initiative were supplied by the provincial government to ensure effective operation of the program.

Engineer Subghat Ullah, District Emergency Officer, formally handed the assigned vehicles’ keys to drivers and briefed them on professional responsibilities and protocols to be followed while providing the free mortuary transfer service. He emphasized that Rescue 1122 remains committed to round-the-clock public service and that the new arrangement will ease a difficult time for many households.

Citizens in need of the free mortuary transfer can contact the Rescue 1122 helpline by calling 1122. According to media coordinator Muhammad Usman Gujar, the rollout aims to expand support steadily while maintaining respect and efficiency in every transfer.
