NCRC raises awareness on digital violence during 16 Days of Activism, urging safer online spaces and protections for children across Pakistan.

The NCRC team gathered during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence to spotlight the urgent need to address digital violence and protect women, girls and children in Pakistan. The activity aligned with this year’s global theme, Unite to End Digital Violence against women and girls, and underscored how online harms are reshaping risks for young people and vulnerable groups.

With technology woven into daily life, the nature of abuse has evolved. Cyberbullying, online harassment, non-consensual sharing of images and other tech-facilitated exploitation continue to silence voices and restrict safe participation in online spaces. The event highlighted how digital violence often intersects with offline harms and can have long-lasting effects on children’s wellbeing and development.

Ayesha Raza Farooq, Chairperson NCRC, together with commission members and the technical team, delivered focused messages calling for a safer digital environment. Their remarks stressed the importance of promoting digital literacy, establishing clear reporting channels, and encouraging responsible online behaviour that respects the dignity and rights of every individual.

NCRC reiterated its commitment to building a society where technology empowers rather than harms, urging collaboration among families, educators, technology platforms and policymakers. The commission also noted the role of national partners and international stakeholders in supporting prevention, survivor assistance and awareness-raising efforts across Pakistan.

The team’s collective message was a call to action: speak out against harmful practices, support survivors, and strengthen protections so that every person — especially children — can engage online without fear of violence or discrimination. Through continued advocacy and education, NCRC aims to reduce digital violence and promote safer digital spaces for all.
