ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Ulema and Mashaikh, chaired by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, on July 17, 2026, expressed support for the state’s positive measures for peace, religious harmony, social stability and national security.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf said Pakistan had earned immense respect after the “Maarka-e-Haq”. He said the peace efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Hafiz Syed Asim Munir had been appreciated across the world, while India’s negative propaganda had been defeated.
He said the Armed Forces of Pakistan were rendering sacrifices for the defence of the motherland, adding that religious scholars had gathered to acknowledge these sacrifices. He said Ulema had always remained at the forefront in protecting the ideological frontiers of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The participants reaffirmed their resolve to continue full cooperation with the Government of Pakistan in every positive step and reiterated their commitment to the supremacy of the Constitution and the strengthening of state institutions.
They appreciated the efforts of the Armed Forces of Pakistan for peace, stability and national unity and expressed unwavering support for them.
The Ulema and Mashaikh also expressed complete solidarity with the government and security forces against terrorism, extremism and subversive activities. They paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and security forces for peace and stability in Pakistan.
According to the declaration issued after the meeting, the entire Pakistani nation is indebted to the great sacrifices of the martyrs and ghazis. It said there is no room in Islam for terrorism, extremism, sectarianism and violence, adding that Islam is a religion of peace, moderation, tolerance and respect for human life.
The declaration said every act that harms the peace of the state, society and people is condemnable.
The Ulema and Mashaikh appealed to scholars of all schools of thought to promote national unity and religious harmony. They said the national narrative against terrorism would be highlighted through sermons, lessons and religious gatherings.
The declaration also stressed the need to make joint academic, religious and social efforts effective to protect the young generation from extremist ideologies, hateful material and misleading propaganda.
Dr Sajjad Qamar, Qari Mehboobur Rehman, Maulana Zulfiqar, Maulana Abdul Qadir Sikandari, Maulana Ayub Ansari, Maulana Iqbal Abbasi, Maulana Dr Munir Ahmed, Maulana Dr Muhammad Saleem Saeedi, Maulana Syed Jahangir Shah Saeedi, Maulana Dr Saeedur Rehman, Maulana Abu Bakr Siddique, Maulana Dr Hafizur Rehman, Allama Sajjad Naqvi, Allama Akhtar Abbas, Maulana Waqas Majeed, Maulana Mujeebur Rehman, Maulana Aneesur Rehman, Qari Muhammad Siddique and Maulana Hassan Farooq attended the meeting.
Acting Secretary Religious Affairs Dr Mirza Ali Mehsud, Director Misbahur Rehman, Deputy Director Quran Dr Shahid Rehman, Muhammad Khaleeq, Dr Mehboob Usman and other officers were also present.
The Ulema and Mashaikh also offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs, early recovery of the injured and protection of the country from all internal and external threats.
