Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb were honoured at a dinner hosted by Zaheer Mehdi in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb were honoured at a dinner hosted by Zaheer Mehdi, Head of Jazz World, on July 17, according to a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat Media Directorate.

The dinner was attended by prominent figures from the business, financial and social sectors. Participants exchanged views on Pakistan’s political and economic outlook, investment promotion, the digital economy, agriculture, youth employment and the country’s development priorities.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said national unity, political stability and sustained economic reforms were essential for Pakistan’s progress. He reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting effective legislation and addressing public concerns.

Mr Gilani also highlighted the importance of digital technology and innovation-driven growth. He stressed the need to modernise the agricultural sector through advanced technology, affordable financing and greater support for farmers.

He said improved agricultural productivity would contribute significantly to economic growth and called for farmer-friendly policies to strengthen rural livelihoods.

Participants appreciated Chairman Senate Gilani’s leadership and commitment to democratic values and expressed best wishes for Pakistan’s peace, progress and prosperity.

The dinner was attended by MNA Asad Alam Niazi, Chairman Habib Group Muhammad Ali Habib, Cluster CEO Habib Bank AG Zurich Mohsin Nathani, and other leading business leaders, investors and distinguished guests.
