Under the chair of the Federal Secretary, M/o NHSRC, the Ministry of Health successfully conducted the 2025 conclusive dengue meeting to align federal and local efforts ahead of the 2026 campaign. The session set clear expectations for timely planning and strengthened coordination between institutions responsible for outbreak prevention and response.
Senior officials who attended included the Deputy Commissioner ICT, the Director General Health, the District Health Officer, the Director General CDA MCI, representatives from the 10 core units, and all executive directors of federal hospitals along with other senior representatives. Participants reviewed operational readiness and agreed on roles and lines of communication to ensure rapid deployment if cases rise.
The meeting emphasised a focused 2026 dengue campaign strategy with priority actions on budget allocation, human resources recruitment, and public awareness drives. Officials highlighted the need for dedicated funds, targeted hiring of medical and entomology staff, and community outreach to reduce breeding sites and improve early care-seeking behaviour.
To recognise frontline efforts, the Ministry presented appreciation certificates to dengue workers and entomologists to acknowledge their dedication and boost morale. Attendees agreed that sustained inter-agency coordination and timely implementation of the agreed measures will be critical to the campaign’s success.
