Islamabad, December 3, 2025 — The Turkiye Embassy marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by bringing together people with disabilities, media representatives and civil society to advance Disability Inclusion across Pakistan.

Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, Ambassador of Turkiye, welcomed guests with traditional warmth and pledged the embassy’s full support for accessibility and inclusion in all segments of Pakistani society. He said that “fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress” underlines that true progress requires everyone to participate fully and equally.

The ambassador lauded the work of local organisations, non-governmental groups and individuals devoted to the welfare of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable communities. He reiterated Turkiye’s commitment to deepen longstanding cooperation with Pakistan through joint initiatives, shared expertise and mutual solidarity to promote Disability Inclusion.

Participants included individuals with physical disabilities, people who are visually impaired, those with speech and hearing challenges, and members of the press. Asmatullah Niazi of the National Press Club highlighted the everyday barriers faced by persons with disabilities and urged the state to implement clear accessibility standards nationwide, saying accessibility is the hallmark of an inclusive society.

Looking ahead, the embassy indicated plans to support programmes that promote accessibility, inclusive education and greater participation of persons with disabilities in public life. Such initiatives aim to translate diplomatic solidarity into concrete steps that broaden opportunities and ensure no one is left behind in Pakistan’s social and economic progress.
