TIKA Country Coordinator Visits PMAS-AAUR to Explore Collaborative Opportunities

The Country Coordinator of the Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Ms. Saliha TUNA, along with a team of TIKA professionals, visited Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) to explore potential areas of collaboration in research, innovation, and capacity building. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor of PMAS-AAUR, who was joined by Deans, Directors, and senior faculty members. The meeting focused on identifying joint initiatives in education, agriculture, community development, and institutional capacity enhancement.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman highlighted the university’s strong commitment to fostering partnerships that translate research excellence into sustainable community development. He reaffirmed PMAS-AAUR’s readiness to collaborate with TIKA on projects that advance agricultural innovation, rural livelihoods, and technological modernization.

During the visit, Ms. Saliha was briefed on the university’s research strengths, technical expertise, and state-of-the-art infrastructure, particularly in relation to a proposed TIKA-supported Cream Honey Processing Facility to be established at PMAS-AAUR. The delegation also toured key facilities, including the Apiculture Farmers Training Lab at the Pak-Korea Capacity Building Center, where Ms. TUNA appreciated the hands-on training programs and laboratory operations. At the University Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (UIBB), she reviewed the research facilities contributing to future TIKA-supported projects.

At the Center for Precision Agriculture (C4PA), Ms. Saliha was briefed on pioneering research in remote sensing, drone applications, and digital agricultural solutions designed to empower local farmers. Expressing appreciation for the university’s innovative initiatives and research culture, Ms. Saliha commended PMAS-AAUR’s proactive approach and reaffirmed TIKA’s commitment to supporting collaborative research and capacity-building programs for the socio-economic development of communities across Pakistan.
