Pakistan Strengthens Child Protection at EVAC Forum

Pakistan highlights child protection progress at the EVAC forum, advancing child safety, positive parenting and online protection.

Pakistan took part in the South Asia Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Colombo, where Chairperson Child Protection & Welfare Bureau MPA Sarah Ahmad (T.I.) represented the country alongside Secretary Human Rights Abdul Khaliq Sheikh and Director General Human Rights Muhammad Arshad.

Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Harini Amarasuriya attended the event as chief guest, while the regional conference brought together ministers, secretaries and senior officials from across South Asia. The gathering was jointly organized by SAARC, UNICEF and the World Health Organization to support stronger regional cooperation on child safety and child protection.

During her presentation, Sarah Ahmad outlined Pakistan’s progress in building stronger child protection systems and expanding child protection services. She also spoke about initiatives focused on positive parenting, improved online child safety and the development of a National Strategic Action Plan on Violence Against Children.

She expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for nominating her to represent the country at the forum, saying the opportunity reflected Pakistan’s continued commitment to safeguarding children. The country, she noted, remains focused on ensuring that every child grows up safe, protected and able to reach their full potential.
