Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, took part in the SCO Business Council board meeting held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where member countries discussed ways to strengthen business cooperation and expand investment opportunities in Pakistan.
During the meeting, the focus remained on practical steps to improve trade links among member states and to encourage a more active role for the private sector. Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized that better connectivity through land, air and rail routes can create stronger commercial integration across the region and make cross-border business easier for companies in Pakistan and other SCO member countries.
He described the SCO as a major regional alliance with significant potential, saying its member states are rich in skills, capital and access to large markets. According to him, this combination gives the bloc a strong foundation for deeper economic cooperation and long-term growth.
Atif Ikram Sheikh also reaffirmed that Pakistan is committed to increasing trade with SCO member countries. He said the government has introduced several measures to attract foreign investment, and Pakistan continues to offer a large consumer base, promising opportunities and strong returns for investors looking for secure and productive ventures.
He urged business communities from SCO member states to visit Pakistan and explore the wide range of investment possibilities available across different sectors. The discussion in Bishkek reflected a shared interest in building stronger business relations and unlocking new avenues for economic collaboration in the region.
